Oh sweet gracious I love this lifestyle newborn session. Kellie sent me photos of their home prior to the session so I would have an idea on lighting and color schemes. All the white made me incredibly excited. I love simple, clean, classic. I get asked the question about incorporating pets a LOT, and my answer is always "sure" it's worth a shot.
I can't guarantee the cooperation of course, but we can always just give anything a shot. Kellie actually booked two newborn sessions: one in studio with the typical props and poses. AND she really wanted to have a newborn session in their home to be more natural and include the parent (and doggy) photos in their home setting. I love her style so of course I'm super happy with these photos.
I try to always give one photography session tip for each blog post. For a lifestyle session in your home, my advice and tip would be to have the area cleared out as much as physically possible. Make it neat, tidy, and clean. I always love to use the nursery for part of the session, but I'm always checking out the living room and master bedroom as an option too. It's all based on decor and light. Outside of that I send a PDF on how to prepare newborns for sessions.
